Students bag top three University ranks since 1982,the year of inception. They also play a major role in bodies like youth welfare and bring laurels to college.
To enrich the teaching-learning process by imparting real time experience, the department maintains close links with various food processing industries like Idhyam gingelly oil plant, Aavin and SNP milk unit, Paddy and Dhal processing industries, Parle G and Perrys biscuit factories, Spirulina cultivation unit and fruit beverages unit. During this visit our students gain first hand information on processing skills.
Our students create awareness among rural population about health and hygiene. They are also disseminate the research findings to the public.
Students of the department are encouraged to attend various seminars for sharing their knowledge. Our department also conducts international/national level seminars, symposia and workshops.
